Case Study: Learn Professional Delivery with our Presentation Skills Training Course

There has never been a better time to work on your presentation skills. Many meetings have moved online, and if you are heading back into the office you might find that going back to presenting in person is more challenging than it once was.

Introduction

We have been delivering all training courses remotely since the start of the pandemic back in March 2020. However, we were recently approached by a client to deliver a face-to-face training course.

Challenge

The request was for a face-to-face Presentation Skills training course. All the managers at the organisation were having to present to senior board members, and they were struggling to get the information across in a clear, concise and engaging manner. This resulted in a lack of engagement by the board, and frustrated managers as key messages were not being understood.

Solution

We helped the managers overcome this with our Presentation Skills training course. It was recognised by all that the best way to deliver effective presentation skills was via an interactive face-to-face session. By being in the same room, we were able to effectively demonstrate:

  1. Practical techniques to engage the audience, including voice control
  2. Effective use of body language, including appropriate eye contact
  3. Appropriate use of visual aids
  4. Hints and tips on managing nerves

Once we discussed the visual elements of presenting, we then coached the managers on:

  1. How to put together a clear framework for structuring and signposting a presentation
  2. Methods for highlighting and emphasising key messages, including the preparation of slides
  3. Re-iterated that good preparation will improve confidence and the flow of the presentation

Each manager was then given 30 minutes to structure a presentation. They then presented back to the other managers using the skills and techniques gained during the Presentation Skills Course training. Constructive feedback was received and given by all.

Benefit

The following week the managers presented the benefits of hybrid working to the board. Following the slow return to the office, the benefits of hybrid working were recognised by all. Results from a recent YouGov survey shows that after the pandemic, the majority of workers want to continue to work from home at least some of the time.

Once the structure for this new way of working has been agreed upon, I will be coaching the managers on how to stay engaged with a remote workforce.

Result

The benefit of this training has resulted in the managers delivering structured and engaging presentations. Clear messages have now been communicated to board members with appropriate actions taken.  This improved communication has resulted in a greater understanding in the organisation, which has led to increased efficiency and an overall better working environment.
